Benz
Restored this Benz Solingen the other day. The scales (white plastic with logo) were bent so i dropped it into these horn scales i made.
Today i did some research (Google) and found that Benz was the engineer behind Mercedes . He tried and failed at a straight razor business ,making 1000 pieces only. Now i'm thinking i should fix up its original scales
I don't know how much of this story is true ,its a nice blade though.. 13/16ths ..Looks much nicer in hand.

Thanked: 3225Regardless if the story is true or not. my preference is to try and save the original scales. With the possibility of that story being true that would be doubly so. Good looking blade all the same.

It's very cool to have a razor with lineage that connects it to Mercedes Benz.
Sounds pretty rare too.
I'd certainly give those original scales a go.

I think we'll need to see the evidence that this razor was made by Karl Benz or a company controlled by him. This surfaced on Badger & Blade in 2013 and 2016 but nothing really solid has been produced to prove the case beyond doubt. I'd like it to be true!

beautiful razor! at the very least, hang on the originals and keep them in a place that you or someone someday can put it all together again.

Nice Blade.
This is from a few years ago--

The person seems to have joined multiple razor forums and other places. I found this pic of the razor--

Interesting story - 1000 pieces ... never linked this razor to Merc Benz - this is mine , must be part of a '7 day set' as this one carries the tuesday stamp good shaver but nothing special...
I was tryin' to figure out which is worse, ignorance or apathy...Then I realized I don't know and I don't care...
