You certainly do get originality and style points for this one - and it turned out really well...I like the rustic look a lot!

    Great job!

I'm glad you looked. Thanks Glen. This is the second wedgeless set I've done. It's not really a smart idea, but it is becoming my style.

yeah, i thought it would be better too. I had to pin it do over style. I cracked the bark at the pin so i just trimmed it down. That takes some away from it for me, and i lost the knot on the no knot side-it was just too far off.

How long to season a smaller branch like that ?
there is rustic patina on my whole lifestory lol, it's on everything I make.

These are about 4 years old air dried with sealed ends - you must do that. You could do it in a day or two (depending) in a hot box, but you have to be able to weigh it. experimentally. Or a year air dried works well for me. I bring it indoors to climate control and in a week + cut then ends off. if it doesn't end check within a week or two it's good. If it begins you reseal and keep it in your driest place til you feel like trying again.

Almost. Actually I kicked myself in the butt for not knowing the value a : small enough for scales branch : would have for me. each side has a 1/2 wedge carved out with the rest tapered toward the pivot and open side so the bottom is more closed off than with flat scales.

this one was about 1 inch diameter. A knotty twig would be perfect for a true one piece

any sealer on the bark would be derogatory to be sure. Over the long term I'm pretty sure the bark edges would lift, even though quite tight atm still looks like a perfect spot for some CA
