Default Joseph Rogers & Sons Military Razor

My wife found this razor in an antique shop in Pittsboro NC. It was probably forged in the 1850s or 1860s. When first seen it was laying in a wicker basket full of old silverware. the original scales were black horn of the same shape, but they were pretty much eaten by bugs. The blade was blued and I think that's what preserved it from rusting too bad. After restoring the blade I renewed the bluing(not as dark as it was originally). Etched into the blade are the words "Military Razor". I don't know for sure if it was carried by the blue or the grey, but I like to think it was.

Wow, I love the smooth curves on that razor, the way the tang humps up. The bluing and red scales look great. Nice find and well done.

That's one ugly lookin' razor I believe I have the same one but in a shiny version with ivory scales. See, threads like these make me feel so bad for having razors like this that really should be honed and used, and instead my laziness is making them suffer in a drawer.

The well chosen combination of color and design makes it a standout.
