Default Boker Red Injun w/ buffalo nickels

*** Please understand, I am in no way meaning this to be politically incorrect or offensive to anyone. I have great respect for the Native American peoples. ***

This was a fun project to do. I really enjoy the old west and always thought that the "Red Injun" razor would a good choice to do something fun with. I picked this one up (a bit thinner than what I wanted, but the price was right) as she was part of a 7 day set and I didn't feel bad about making modifications. The blade still has some very minor pitting up by the spine, but overall she cleaned up nicely.

The scales are G10, brass domed washers and stainless steel pins...yes really, stainless steel pins (I couldn't find Nickel Silver locally...so I figured why not try it). I couldn't get them to peen as they were, so I heated them until they were glowing bright orange (not on the razor), held them there for 10 seconds and then quenched them in water. They were still very hard, but I was able to peen them and tighten them up nicely. The scales are a bit heavy due to the nickels, but like I said I had a lot of fun doing this one and she's for my rotation anyway I hope you enjoy it. I'll hone her up later tonight and shave with her in the morning.

    Here are the pics:

As always, any critiques are always welcome, after all, how else am I gonna get better at this

    Thanks

    Neat idea carried out well.
I like it when a custom leads to other thoughts, and you made that happen well too. I think it's respectful to the blade and theme.

Sidenote, maybe unrelated to the intention of the project but you also drove me to start playing the old album Double Nickles on the Dime, by the Minutemen. I gotta say thanks for that!

Regarding the weight, suspect if were to plane the nickels thinner, removing the rear face, balance will benefit. Would make sense if didn't want to deface that iconic currency though.
