I designed a very similar blade/tang that I have been shaving with for about 6 months and found myself wanting to use it more often than not. It just fits good in my hand. Of course this is a matter of opinion and/or personal preference. While stropping and honing I tend to choke down on the tang to the first dip with for-finger and thumb (widest portion on the tang) and this feels like the natural position. I guess I would best describe it as "different" to strop and hone compared to a straight/er tang but not too different. There is no doubt however that some of these so called "creative" designs are just not for everyone. Obviously there is a reason the vast majority of razors made for hundreds of years were designed the way they are. Its just fun to push the limits sometimes.

Typically I design a razor on paper and cut it out in light 1/4" wood. This allows me to get a better idea of how it will feel in the hand and its general ergonomics. I also get a better idea of where I want the pivot pin.
WOW! It sounds like you really do your homework in your design! I truly think it looks comfy to use and as to the finish...If you had 2 of these, you could shave with one and use the other for a mirror! Thanks for all the details!

    I rest my case.

Oh crap, that is a truly beautiful razor mate.
Lovely lines, very classic looking, yet with a modern expression.
And the size is, well, right up my alley
