Thanked: 485I KNOW it's not a REAL Restoration, but...
...It's my first...
The Emil Kronenberg I got recently had a spot of rust, and those little black spidery marks (what are they, I've seen them on pictures?). I'm not saying it was 'bad' but the marks couldn't be ignored. So I 'took to it' (rather aggressively, much more than its state deserved) with 'sanding pads', an assortment of wet and dry (600, 800, 1200) plus some 180. I knew to remove all of the rust I'd end up removing at least some of the emblem, and it was rather tacky anyway; so I decided to remove it all rather than keep some of it there; mainly through necessity, the 'black spidery marks' were quite obvious on the emblem.
I started with the sanding pads and then the 180 and finally the 600 last weekend. I honed it, (no good) honed it again (yesterday - three times; astonishing result) and decided to polish it more today at a family gathering. I had worthwhile conversations about straight razor shaving with the 'young folk' that were gathered there drinking Bundy and Rum in a can and smoking, while I drank last year's South Australian Shiraz and Imported German beer and polished and polished and polished.
I received comments about 'how patient' I was, and 'if you keep polishing that it will disappear' and 'did you just spit on that?'.
Four hours later using just a 2 inch square piece of 1200 Wet and Dry and some elbow grease the Bundy and Rum drinking young whipper snapper and I agreed it was 'done'.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Not sure what it looked like before but it looks like you did a great job on the blade.

Thanked: 485Ta, considering what I DID to it with the courser grit sandpaper it survived OK. The shave this morning with it wasn't that good though, not real close, no rash or anything though. Not sure if I should touch it up on the Shapton 16k for about 5 laps or go to the 8k for about 5 and then the Spapton for 5...
