Thanked: 1072New scales for an Ugly blade
This Kropp was one of my very early restorations. The blade was covered with rust as you can see in the first pic.Grant
I hand sanded it attacked it with the Dremmel and made some tinted acrylic scales, which have served me well for nearly 3 years.
The scales were too chunky and heavy though, and I thought the blade deserved an upgrade.
The new scales are Cobalt acrylic, stacked s/steel washers on NiAg pins, and a polished Aluminium wedge.
They were polished all the way to Micromesh 12000, then buffed, and took a real nice shine.
The blade is a badly pitted old workhorse, but is still a fantastic shaver.

Very nicely done. I love the pattern in those scales and the little cut out at the wedge. The wedge and pins are very nicely done, really sharp looking scales.

Well done Grant! I really like the notch at the wedge and the double pins are a nice accent as well.

Thanked: 3224Very nice and meticulous job on those scales. The colours and markings put me in mind of a tropical fish and they are always an enjoyable sight to see. Nice work on the blade too, it now has a totally different character than it's original shape.

Thanked: 498Nice job Grant. Wow what pretty scales. That little wedge tongue sticking out is a cool feature too. And killer spine work as well.
I dig it.
