Nice blade. I notice pretty much all custom razor makers these days do 8/8ths or larger. What's up with that? Do buyer's actully like that, or is it, "I want the most for my money, or a macho thing?

Does anyone buy customs less than 8/8th's? Personally, I don't like or use blades that wide. I don't know, maybe be it's just me.

Don't get me wrong, She's a beauty, I'm just curious as to why everyone opts for largers blades these days. I had this discussion with Max a few months ago.

Thanks, I think. If it makes any difference I am currently working on a 7/8 and a 6/8 for something different. One of those is for someone who specifically asked for something smaller. So the answer is 'Yes' some people buy custom blades less than 8/8.

Don't get me wrong brother, It's a beautiful blade. You do nice work. No doubt about it.

I just see a lot of huge meat cleaver blades these days. It seems the 8/8th's or larger are the most popular size in customs. I talked to a few of the custom razor makers, ( I bought one a few months ago), and they tell me most guys want large blades, 8/8ths. More for your money. I have a few that big, but honestly, There a bitch to strop. I wound up getting a 7/8th's, and I wish I'd gotten a 6/8th's.

I am now the proud owner of this little baby. Its my very first custome razor. Its a poor fit for my hands, yet I love it just the same. The scales are simply beautiful, looking far better in person than they do in the photos. and its a point ot the quality that the curves of tang and scales mate up so perfectly in both open and closed positions!
Certainly feels different on the face than my vintage blades. Before I touch it up to see if I can squueeeeeeeze a bit more out of it, what was its original honing setup?
And yea, I find myself tempted to open pop caps with it! (but I wont dare!)
Great work Stu person, Great work!

Congratulations Magpie - that is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful custom razors that I have ever seen.

Thanks Magpie, I'm glad you like it.

The original honing setup was just a single layer of tape. Finished on a Sigma 13k. However Rune has probably taken it for a few laps on something else since

    Hope you enjoy it.
