Possible Brisbane and SE Qld meet up
Mick has recently mentioned the possibility of a barbie get-together at his place in another post. This would be great but would mean a fair bit of effort on his part, not to say at least some expense and inconvenience to his family, possibly even hiring a marquee and tables etc.
I'd like to suggest an alternative that while it doesn't include a barbie it does have advantage of minimal set-up and central location. Some of the City Council libraries have meeting rooms available for out of hours hire; the one I'm most familiar with and is, I think, the most suitable, is at 135 Sydney Street New Farm. The NFM library meeting room is a good facility in that there are no carpets to worry about spilling water on, there's an A/C if it's hot, there's running water and tea/coffee making facilities, fold-up tables that we can arrange however we like, and parking spots are available.
I've enquired about the availability of the room and have been told there are 2 Sunday afternoon slots available for February (2nd and 9th) and 3 for March (2nd, 9th and 16th).
I'd like to hear the general views of the SE Qld enthusiasts regarding both the venue and the possible dates.
Over to you guys.........

We have 3 so far who are OK with any of the proposed dates; i.e. me, Kevin and Mick. Does anybody who hasn't replied but would like to come prefer a particular date?

Andrew, at previous get togethers we've had anything from 5 to about 10 attendees. The venue I've suggested would have no trouble accommodating a dozen of us.

What do you typically do at a meetup? I assume bring your razors etc to show, teach each other tips / tricks with honing, try each others products? Or is it just purely a social catchup?

Generally they're pretty free form in that no-one calls the meeting to order and no minutes are taken or motions moved and all that kind of thing , Mostly it's a show and tell of interesting finds of both razors and hones, with some honing and stropping demos. At the last one Stu even had a go at shaving with various razors. Sometimes razors, hones and strops are swapped or sold. In 2012 Geoff did some re-pinning and various hones were tried out. See these links for pictures of earlier meet ups http://straightrazorpalace.com/down-...lunteer-6.html [page 6 and 7 of that thread] and http://straightrazorpalace.com/down-...ovember-8.html
As you can see we're a motley crew, ages from 20s to 50s

You guys are good, from Inception to venue and dates in a couple of weeks. Just had a look at the photos in the link, I recognised Mick (at the back, probably like when he was at school, with motorbike helmet), jimbo at the front left with wraparounds and pi tattoo, and I think geoff is the guy with glasses, who are the rest? It is nice to put faces to names.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
