Hi all, good news: I've just firmed in the room hire for Sunday the 2nd March, starting at 1:30 PM.
When you apply for the room hire you have to describe what your group is all about so they can either filter out commercial operations, ratbag sects and the like - or charge them accordingly. I described us as "Razor and shaving equipment collectors and enthusiasts. We meet approximately once or twice per year and discuss razor collecting, razor honing, preservation and restoration methods and techniques." Note the word "cut-throat" does not appear - sorry Mick
This date gives us plenty of time to work out who's bringing tea, coffee, snacks and car sharing etc. I've thought about PMing everyone who I know is a member in SEQld but decided against it as I'm sure word will spread of it's own accord.
Mike
See you all then

I would be happy to bring some desert. Sugar to keep us all concentrating. I have a family favourite in mind. It will travel well and be enjoyed by all Im sure.
It's in my diary…Last edited by kevinred; 01-25-2014 at 07:40 AM.

Thanks Mike, that's awesome.
If nobody objects, I would like to insist that I provide tea & coffee for all. Will just need to let me know if you want me to bring small espresso machine or instant coffee, as Im not sure of the facilities. I would imagine there'd be somewhere to plug it in, it only needs the footprint of a4 paper approx. The espresso , in my opinion tastes better as a coffee as it uses arabica rather than robusta beans, but can bring either or both. For tea, Ill bring teabags, plus some loose-leaf tea and teapot. If anyone wants decaf, please advise beforehand or I will leave at home. I don't drink it myself but have it here for guests.
I'll bring some biscuits also, but if anyone wants to bring other snacks that would be great
Looking forward to it
Andrew

Thanked: 983Well done Mike, and thank you to Kevin and Andrew. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones at this get together, so hopefully we have a good showing.
I'll just be bringing myself. I don't have anything on hand for trade and sell this time around.

SE QLD meet
Hi everyone,
I spoke to Larisa from TriShave this afternoon, she is the owner of her business, and produces shaving products and will be providing samples for everyone at the Brisbane meetup. She is a really nice lady, and told me heaps about her product and can't wait to try it. It is a shave cream which apparently is recommended by dermatologists arounds the world, nourishes the skin etc (She told me so much it was hard to absorb lol) . Obviously on this forum, nobody is going to take her word for it, but she stands behind her product and is giving us all free samples...
She was hoping, if anyone was interested, to agree to being filmed whilst shaving straight razor with her product to put on her website. I emailed her asking if she could provide some free product or gift voucher to SRD in return, and will wait to hear back re her response to this.
It sounds like a great product, but I wouldn't recommend it until I had tried it myself.
I've noticed on this site already that "MickRussell" has already tried the product. "I've found a product called Trishave anti-rash shave creme. It's not remotely "traditional" but my skin seems to like it."
If you dont like the product for any reason, please also feel free to post your thoughts. This forum is about honest advice, and Larisa is now aware of that.
Also, she said they do an aftershave balm as well, would the guys from the Brisbane meetup be interested in trying this product as well? she said she would be happy to supply us all samples with that product as well.
Oh... sorry for such a long post, but re coffee/tea for the meetup, Before Sat 22nd Feb, could you please let me know your preferences re tea/coffee... your options are: Coffee - Visit nespresso and advise what you like (range of flavours), and how many pods to get for you... or for tea drinkers: I can either bring a range of twining teabags, or some loose leaf tea and teapot... Please dont feel like you are inconveniencing me in any way, I love a good cuppa, so Im happy to bring whatever you want, just let me know what type of tea you like, and whether you want loose leaf tea in teapot or are happy with teabags.
I'll be bringing soy milk for myself and am planning on a couple of bottles of normal milk. If anyone wants Skim/Trim/almond milk (or prefers heaps of milk in their tea/coffee) etc just let me know and I will accommodate. I want everyone to have a nice drink to enjoy with Kevs famous filofax desert (minus the first 5 pages which Mick has dibs on)
Andrew
P.p.s. I should have a platypus razor bought on ebay to bring to the meetup, would love some help or advice on how to restore. I posted a thread about it but pics wren't the best so will be great to get an opinion from those able to see it in personLast edited by onimaru55; 01-30-2014 at 11:52 PM. Hi All,
And many thanks to Mike, Andrew and Kevin for stepping up to the plate and organising this. I wouldn't have been able to this time.
Count me in and let me know what you would like me to bring as far as hones and resto equipment goes and it shall be done. Most of you know what hones I have, however there are some new additions - a couple of Asano Naguras and a Nakayama and a Chosera 1K.
If anyone has any razors they would like honed on the day - bring them along.
Andrew, is it an ALDI machine you have? If so, I have compatible pods (10+ on the strength scale) and a milk frotherHang on and enjoy the ride...
