No official meetup date planned, but there seems to be a bit of interest from a couple of people to tryout some woodworking tools I have (lathe, band saw, scroll saw and bench belt sander) and a mini grinder. I have a couple of hones you can try yourself if you want... My first proper attempt I got a shave ready razor. Happy to show you how I did it and you can use yourself... Chosera 1k for bevel set, Norton 4/8K to bring to shave ready, and an escher if you want to try as a finisher, plus I have a coticule.
The others coming would be better at honing than me... anyone here is welcome to use my gear or bring their own as well if they wish...
Hoping when we meet to knock out a few scales, a brush handle or 2, and can play with the hones when others are on the power tools.
Depending on when we meet, we may also do a session of wood stabilisation (Im waiting for a vacuum canister setup)
Havachat knows lots about honing, not sure if he is wanting to come or not... we haven't even started proposing dates yet. Im sure AdamG would be happy to share his expertise as well.
If you just want to try the hones, I'm available anytime with notice. I live in West End.
Also, I have a wedding at Laidely 1st November, will be getting a motel room at Hattonvale, if that is near you I can bring some hones for you to borrow if you want to pickup Sat early arvo and return before I leave Sunday morning so you can get some experience on the Sat night.
Its a shame Os, gssixgun or Lynn don't live in the local areaIt's nice to be important, but more important to be nice

I tend to make trips up your way a bit. If it's nothing urgent, next time I'm heading that way I can pay a visit with my basic hones and give you a run down on what to do. Get Ed to shoot me an email if that plans of any use to you. I check my email everyday, but I'm not always on the forum. I can make a special trip for you if needs be, providing the timing works with my free days.
