Good point. But if it is suitable for sensitive baby skin it can not contain any aggressive ingredients imo.

The camellia oil will look cooler on the shelf and will need no explanation. Money well spent I think

Yeah, like niftyshaving said I'll have to get a nice bottle with a dropper, and no mention of laxatives.

I've used baby oil on blades for years with no ill effects. The additive is just a scent which would need to be pretty much PH neutral if you are rubbing it on babies.

The one advantage of the paraffin is the thicker consistency, if the paraffin is the same as the one I vaguely remember being force fed as a child. Baby Oil does bead.

Yes, thats the best thing about it. you can wipe it on with a tissue and get a nice thin coat over the blade, it doesnt bead like baby or sewing oil.

    SOLD! You've convinced me.

I picked up some of that paraffin on the way home. Well worth trying, I think. That beading with the other stuff drives me up the wall, especially on big blades like swords. On display pieces I use Renaissance wax and that stuff is great! But on things that are actually in some kind of rotation I want something I can wipe off quickly and easily.

I might have to nip out and get me some laxatives too, I think. Sounding like it's going to be right up me alley...

For what its worth, I use extra virgin olive oil obtained from a local Italian family. Works really well in my rifle bores, particularly muzzel loaders, does not foul like say WD 40.
I do dry my razors carefully so they don't rust under the oily layer

    cheers all

Be careful. Vegetable oils will rot. It is my understanding that it is a bad idea to use them for rust prevention, at least if it is not an emergency. Chefs use them but that is only because they need to eat off the things they are storing.

I guess the only thing I can add is have been using olive oil for a few years now. If a rifle was to be put away for a long time I would use mineral oil.

    Cheers
