After recruit training in '83ish I went to the School of Artillery at North Head for IET training. I'd done my best to emulate the TV show 'The Young Ones' just prior to joining, along with many forms of 'embellishment' substances if you get my drift, so being let loose on Manly beach, the ferry, the Cross, as a 23 year old at that time was just a little astonishing. The School of Artillery looked a little like a castle; perched on the most expensive real estate in Sydney, those summer days, walking to the cove nearby for a swim, running up the stupidly steep hills from the beaches to the school just for fun; the fact there was a restaurant every hundred meters, taxis galore, money galore, no inhibitions. A dream now. And making me feel a bit sad as I listen to 'Nutshell' by Alice In Chains, up loud, on the headphones...
So what are we talking about?...

The farm ain't anywhere near Brisbane though mate. I love the farm. I want to live there permanantly. You may have seen the little old house that I call my own when I'm there. Two rooms, one bed, wireless, no T.V, small fridge, kettle, no toilet (That's a forty metre walk away), running water at the sheds only and glorious views all round.
A whole 'nother world away from where I spend most of my time!

That sounds cool, not that I live in the city at all; but I'd like to strip it all down a lot more of you know what I mean...

It's probably not within the bounds of (normal) modern man to live like that anymore. But you can get use to it if you try.

Going by the online feet to metres convertor I just used 40 metres is 131.23 feet. The actual metres to the toilet may be a bit more or a bit less (more I'd say). I've never paced it out. No well like what I've seen in movies as such, we have a bore, which is underground water pumped up by a windmill, I'll attach a photo in a tic. Well water is much sweeter tasting than bore water .
