Me, I day-camp 4 times a week at lunch by the lake on post.
Also hike a 2 mile loop at the local mountain trails with full load once a week with the family to keep skills up.

Just back from 3 nights in northern WI. The colors were beautiful. The fishing sucked. People worry about bears but the mice were running all over. We timed our departure perfect with the rain starting less than 5 miles after we left the landing.

I returned from an overnight camp out this afternoon. An old friend and I hike in to do some campfire cooking and enjoy the changing of the seasons. Rain in the morning cleared up around lunch and we had clear skies to hike down to the lake. Thunder storms retuned after dinner and we spent most of the evening at the picnic table under a tarp.
A favorite fishing spot
My tent pitched next to some sort of pagan altar

For the past 2 years I have been wondering about Leatherstockiings,,
It seems like he goes camping every month, now don't get me wrong,, I really love the photos,,
But,,,,,
Could it be that his Better Half tosses him out of the house & he uses it as an excuse to call it "Camping" ??

I used to go camping every month, but only average three or four trips a year now.

Thanked: 237I'm glad I stumbled on this thread. It's just getting to be the right temperature in VA for me to actually enjoy sleeping outside. I'm a cold weather sleeper, so hot and humid deters me in the summer time. There are some really cool areas down here in the Appalachian/Blue Ridge. My good friend and camping enthusiast buddy just moved to Wyoming. Super jealous of you guys in the northern Midwest.
