Cangooner, the inspiration for this thread was your SOTD pics from camping. I have been wanting to build a Quinzee buy we normally don't have the right conditions(snow and cold at the same time) when I have the time to camp.

Plenty of this
But on that occasion it was lamb stew as I was in South Wales with a couple mates, it's a typical Welsh thing;
Brown the lamb
Sweat some onions and garlic
Add veg, rosemary and fresh mint and season to taste
Drink some Brains Skull Splitter (a local tipple) and put feet up
Voila! Tastes far better than it looks...
Goes even better with some fresh Dutchie bread
Even better washed down with cowboy coffee and more Brains
The exact recipe can be shared on request if anyone is into that sort of thing. I'll refrain from future photobombs unless there's interest. I do enjoy going heavy and breaking out the iron sometimes, can't beat a slap up meal in the woods...

Thanked: 375I'll have to post up some Hard shell camping too....
Last year the Wife and I bought a 17.5' Hard shell camper, a very old one (30 yrs old) haha and very small. She needed to have the A/C so if you want to go camping with the family & tents don't cut it, you get a camper haha........
This thing, for as small as it is has an oven, cook top, tub/shower, toilet, A/C and heat - is this camping? close enough if everyone is happy, happy, happy.CHRIS

A few of my cohorts from another forum got together late last summer.
A camping/survival meet up, no modern amenities.
Flint and steel or nothing, well it was over 100 F so we cheated so we weren't purifying water all weekend.
Learned a few new tricks and did some brain tanning for demonstration.
Late on the last day we broke out a few toys, it was my middle sons first time loading and shooting a flint lock.
and of course the .22 with a can went over well.
I am still trying to figure out how I always get stuck cooking but at least the coffee is drinkable.
The two gentlemen in dress actually go out and live like this for several months out of the year.
Weather was warm enough we threw out our bed rolls and called it good.
It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!

Pfries, my son would love to shoot that flintlock! Bet your lad was made up with that. Nice Dan'll Boone approach there with the bed rolls and canvas lean to. Is that a tripod set up over a fire in front of the tarp?
Did you make the kuksa Jamie? I know a Texan over here into bushcraft that would love that! Mind if I share a picture of it with him? Nice little Nessmuk there as well. Great for food prep.
Anyone into making their own kit for camping? I use a lot of Army surplus and self made kit depending on what I'm doing, nice to have a mix of old and modern to pick and choose from. Made a lot of knives in the past, got a big Bowie on the agenda next even though it'll be overkill for camping.
