    I have asked for advice on this a few times, but kept running different Windows systems, both at home and office as well. I haven't yet discarded the idea, though.

    Well I've decided tonight to try to run steam in WINE. Will let you know how it goes.

    Seems silly considering there are native Linux versions of steam for every distro... any games that would work in steam through wine should be in the linux version already

    Alas no. I have number of Windows only games on steam, so am going to try them I did get tomb raider installed but it didn't run on my laptop.

    A few years ago, one of my responsibilities at work was to oversee and maintain a Windows-based network ... and that was more than enough to make me realize what an inherently lousy operating system Windows is. I switched to Mac at home, and never looked back.

    If I were still more of a tech hobbyist these days I'd supplement my home Macs with a Linux box, but I've kind of worked past all that. I fiddled with computers for years, and now I just want them to effortlessly complete the tasks I assign them to do ... and Macs are perfect for that.
