Thanked: 884I use whatever they use when they give me my free oil change every 5K.
My F-150 V8 sump'n or other work truck has 180K HARD miles, LOTS of idle time in summer and winter, if the idle miles were figured in I'd think it well over 200K. Ran pretty much on propane for the first 100K till that system went south. Oil changes at 6K with re-refined oil exclusively.
The wizards decided to swap the whole fleet to synthetic and go with 10K intervals. I'm coming up on my first 10K interval. haven't noticed any change in oil consumption up or down.
Ran AeroShell 140 (70 wt) in all my old big twins. Made sure it warmed up good in cold weather before I got stupid with it. Tore an old ex Ft Worth PD pan head with over 130K miles on it that had nothing but AeroShell 140 in it since day one. Everything inside was clean and had a golden color to it.
Ran Rotella in all the Cat motors and Delo 400 in all the Cummins and Detroit junk that I drove.
Engines nowadays burn so much cleaner that I don't think brand of oil is a big deal as long as you change it regularly. That little Juke of mine doesn't even get the oil dirty at 5K.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

Thanked: 884Put 720 miles on it yesterday. Took the wife with me to interview for a job in Panhandle, TX.
SHe's a bit put off by the lack of a Wal-mart store in that town, not to mention ALL the tall trees you can't see for 50 miles in any direction.
Took her through Palo Duro canyon on the way back. She was IMPRESSED by that country. 75MPH speed limit and it took us three hours to go 100 miles. LOTS of pics were taken.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

Thanked: 32Shell Rotella-T6. In my Suzuki motorcycle and my Subaru WRX.
Did a Blackstone Labs oil analysis after 6000 miles around 150k miles in the WRX and it was so good, they suggested I run it longer.
Now closing in on 180k miles on a modified turbo engine with no problems.

Yes, good oil! I hire guys from the School of Automotive Machine and have learned much about it, particularly as in high performance use. I use it in all my old flat-tappet stuff. One of my customers is a retired Shell engineer who was in on it's development and insists on it in his cars. I heard some good stories from him.
