Don't have any photos but so far a 6 and 2 spikes and 3 does I use a AR15 HBAR. 556 cal. 75 grain hollow point . Our deer aren't that big here so the small cal is all that's needed.

5.56 is humane for any deer. The question is what happens "if" you miss? Hollow points are another question to me.

Although you can load a 5.56 to less trajectory than a .22 long rifle if you want....

A true marksman doesn't plan on missing, but knows where a bullet "could" go if that were to happen

I just bagged a doe this year. Got her through the lower lung and she went about 40 yards and bled out quickly. Not a big doe but not a bad one either. 162 lbs field dressed.

where I hunt there's no problem if you miss. I own the land around me and it's mostly woods. I shoot in one of 3 directions. as far as hollow points go These are Hornady 75 grain match 556 ammo. basically what the military uses in some cases or at least that's what I read. can't remember where though. Roughly 2900 feet per second. flat shooting so it works well in the woods when you have to pick out a small opening to shoot through. I usually use a 1949 FN mauser in 270 but have been giving it a rest this year.

Going to make many of you have a irregular heartbeat

This is the front yard a few months back, this is also why I really don't "Hunt" all that much any longer, it is simply too easy..
I am trying to plan a week long trip down by Salmon ID for next year, that is the big open country that I like to hunt in..

Yes that is a Moose, Two Elk, and a Deer in the same picture, my BIL was posting pics of Elk up in Estes Park CO one day on FB and I walked by the front window to get more coffee and caught this shot outside.. I posted it on his wall with the caption "Consider Yourself One Upped"
Started with just the Moose then the Elk stepped out and finally the Deer

Um, Glen, could we arrange an in-person honing lesson at your place for some time next fall?

So, doe first, in the morning with 270 in lungs. Then young buck in afternoon 5.56 in head. Butcher our own so i know what we are getting. Deer is all we eat. No beef, so should get us by till next year.

It looks like the doe is wearing a wife beater. Do you dress your deer before dressing your deer?
