Well, I got no reply from docmo so I think he is gone. Seems a bit silly to leave a shaving forum because you cannot talk about gun control politics. Like leaving a gun forum because you cannot talk about shaving In any case I'd like to thank you all keeping an eye on that rule when new guys drop by. We really can't moderate closely enough that we see every such post as it is made, and it really makes a difference that the people who participate in this kind of thread help out on this issue.

I like the 'first gun I bought for myself' arm of this thread. Mine was a WWII Browing Hi-Power with lanyard ring Made in Belgium. I was 17. One summer day, the year I bought it, a couple of friends and I took our guns out to the country, the rolling hills of Maryland. We stopped at a small bridge and tossed some beer cans upstream into a creek (I was 17 and it was a long time ago) and 'practiced.' Everyone got to unload a full clip of 9mm rounds at the cans. In the middle of smoke and fire (surplus ammo) we hear a voice behind us and turn to see a farmer with a shotgun. He yells across the road at us and says, 'I know one of you boys has a machine gun.' Kinda made our day (I was 17).'

When I was a kid, some folks along the river went hunting at night at the St Paul,MN city dump. The Cops got there just before they ran out of ammo. Rats near the docks along the river were called poor man's rabbit and were of a size to match but their aggressiveness was of a pit bull. All the kids in the surrounding area of many counties soon got the word and those dumps were never again a shooting gallery.

Let's see now..........My first rifle was a .22 cal. Ithaca Model 49 single shot, lever action. My dad gave it to me when I was 12, so that would have made it 1965. I have been told that it is actually a falling block design, but in any event was clearly built to look like a miniature Model 94 Winchester. (IMO) Be that as it may or may not be its been a dandy little rifle for the last 50 years and I've still got it. I understand that it may have appreciated in value nicely. Although I shoot it but irregularly, preferring the to shoot the pre-64 Winchester Model 61 (maybe its Model 62) .22 that I inherited its still a good shooter and a smart looking little rifle.

Thanked: 39Like some here my first gun was a Stevens .410 with a full choke at 12 years old (either birthday or Christmas), knocked some squirrels out of some tall Oak trees when I was young an able. My brother has it now. I still have my Ruger Mark II Target pistol I got for Christmas just before I turned 18, I'm 54 now.

My first gun was a camo Remington 870 magnum with a 22inch barrel for turkey hunting. My big brother bought it for me and we went on my first hunting trip for turkey that year. I still have it and I still use it for turkeys.
