Bulleit over here also...anything with a cork is my baseline.

Bulleit is the working part of my Old Fashioned
    Bulleit
    Bitters
    sugar cube
club soda or fizzy water (standard)
    twist
    everything is ok for awhile

That makes two. I find that it also makes the perfect Manhattan. The sweet taste of Bulliet adds something special.

Yep, Ladygirl likes the Manhattans...drop the sugar, add a couple of good cherries...happy couple!

Sure wish our LCBO's stocked some great Absinthe.
Ha! Me too. But I have AAD along with HAD, and import it from Europe and stockpile it. But the spirit I was talking about is a "Maryland Style Rye Whiskey" not absinthe, which is one of the cheapest/impressive whiskeys I've had, at sub $60 a bottle, so I thought it relevant for Whiskey, especially rye whiskey connoisseurs. But... you sold me. Glass of Absinthe and starting a new thread is in my future tonight!

My local LCBO told me today that Thurs a shipment of Crown Royal will be coming in. They just couldn't keep it in stock. I'm going to snag a bottle for sure.

I'll be watching for that Absinthe thread!

But I'll keep an eye out for that Crown...
I drink most of my whiskies neat; Bulleit Rye neat for me is...m'eh. I could see it being very good in a cocktail as you've described.

Geeze, Its a bugger to get a hold of the Crown Royal HR.

Looks like all the LCBO's have it on order but none have shipped all BO'd

My buddy and I have been trying to track down some CR Northern Harvest for about a month now. No one in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge has any! Until today, my buddy found some in Waterloo. He bought 4 and ones for me. Pretty excited to try this award winning Rye.

I was down in Toronto yesterday and stopped in to an LCBO and found a couple of bottles.

Just after I brought them home a buddy of mine who is a whiskey aficionado informed me that the craze is all pure hype!
I guess it's really just Whiskey of the year according to one particular author & blogger.

Anyhow, will give it a go. If anything it should make a decent Manhattan,

Ya, word of mouth spreads pretty fast. I don't even drink a whole lot of Rye/Whiskey and as soon as I heard about the win, I wanted some. Mostly just to see what all the rage is about. I actually think I might give the bottle to my Dad, he'll enjoy it more than I ever will and I can sneak some when I'm over.
