I pulled what will probably be the last of my honey for the year today. I will have to decide in the next week if I want to keep all 3 hives left to winter over before I start feeding them.
I treated for mites the first time today and it was a learning experience. I used mite away quick strips and one thing that I didn't read in the directions is that the cover better be put on the hive quick. The bees started boiling over the top of the hive.
I hope I didn't drive the queen up and out.... It took me a hive and a half to figure out what was going on. Long story.

I will hang in there . Thanks. I hope that I haven't scared you off from any interest in bees. I am trying to show my problems and mistakes along with the enjoyment.
Next time you go to buy a pound of honey I think you will understand the amount of work/thought/learning that went into harvesting it!

I am training my bees to detect honey smugglers.
Actually there is honey dripped on some cardboard in the back of my truck after transporting it yesterday and they are stealing it themselves.
There has been people afraid to walk down the sidewalk next to my truck!
