A very good point. As with any hobby if you add up the price it will probably be cheaper to buy a mass production item/product.
But if you add into the equation the fun and learning, or being able to share a breakfast with a friend and saying "Hey Dave try this Honey on your pancakes I harvested it!" I think it is worth it.

Thanked: 10Hi
I tried to keep bees for a couple of years.
I failed to keep them without chemicals.
The best idea I can give you is get a mentor. One that is successful to show how.
You might give him or her some labour to repay.Dennis

Thanked: 369Recently had bees under our roof. Had a bee removal service come out to preserve the bees. The tech said we had the most honey of any hive he'd ever seen in a house. He recovered 5 liters of honey for us.

The bees are suppose to arrive Monday.
Just read an update and the bees left California last night at 8PM But there is a snow storm in Colorado and Wyoming. They might not get here until Tuesday..
Gotta go with the flow!Last edited by 32t; 04-16-2016 at 10:32 PM. Reason: dates wrong

Who's that Bee Snatcher ?? Call the Sheriff !!

He looks awfully familiar... What a lowlife, his shirt isn't even tucked in!!
Probably wouldn't do much good to call the sheriff though. The road that is just visible in the background is near the county line. If he grabs a handfull of bees and makes it about 400 yards to the top of the hill he would be out of their jurisdiction.
