Well, I just visited my local guy today. No fake Chinese honey here. I should be good until this time next year.

Amazing to see the color difference. I think a lot of my honey was from honeysuckle that is massively invasive and is everywhere which made mine very light colored.

I think the color difference is the green oil can behind it the light coming from the right of the picture. Its all the same.

Just be careful when taking this. If the moisture level is to high you can extract it and it can ferment. If in doubt borrow a refractometer from someone that brews beer or makes wine. It should be between 17 and 18%.

Sorry - I meant the color difference of my honey compared to yours.

If I cut comb honey it will only be capped. If some is uncapped I will eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner until it is gone.

What is wrong with fermented honey? Isn't that called Mead!

Seriously I have been told as a general rule that over 80% capped should be good as it get mixed up together.

lets see if I can post a picture....

2 frames of imperfect comb honey, but my first try!

Can't get pictures to post. Gotta figure out why......

Anyway, I got two medium frames of comb honey and four deeps of regular today. I got the four deeps extracted but will bottle them tomorrow.

I got stung twice in my right hand. Once because i squished the bee and the other because one of my hives is dying out and they are ornery.

I estimate there is about 5 gallons of honey in the one that is going bad so it won't be a complete loss...

    Hey Tim

Any idea why the hive is dying?
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

    Because of me.

They appear to not have a queen or she is infertile. That issue may or may not have been my fault. The big mistake I made is that I was to worried about swarm cells and when the bees made supersedure cells I took those out.

Swarm cells are for the hive wanting to split. Supersedure cells are made when the bees realize something is wrong with the queen and they need a new one. The bees knew what they needed to do and I should have left them alone.
