New to the forum today but saw this thread.
I have two hives and I am in my second year of beekeeping. One hive did much better last year - even swarmed 3 months after putting the package in the hive. The other hive was lazy and never really built out the comb on the outer frames. I opened up the hives in the spring - the one was doing well - the other had nothing but drone cells. Put a nuc in that hive this spring and they are going like crazy. Built out all the comb and just threw a supper on it last week.
My good hive swarmed again but also has a completely full super of honey on it and I am letting them build out the comb on a second.
Glad to see other beekeepers out there!
