Got my first bee sting of the year today. I grabbed a moisture cover that I thought was bee free and it wasn't. My fault not the bees.

I put a gallon of feed on each of the hives. I know it is on the early side but it suppose to start warming up tomorrow.

My bear fence is up and running all but the bottom wire. We will get more snow yet.

Cleaned up the dead hive what I could and am deciding if the comb can be reused.

I went to a friends house today and made some maple syrup. Brought him some more honey and I came home with some maple syrup and some Mead that he made with some honey I gave him last fall.

    Some fun trading sugars!

A picture of boiling sap yesterday. The bees in the neighborhood were not out and about yet or I am sure that we would have been invaded!

Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

    You are correct sir.

To try to keep it on topic with the sweet smell of sugar in the air if it would have been warm enough for the bees to fly they would have come and invaded us for sure!

I am going to try a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of maple syrup mixed to see what the taste is like.

While we were waiting for the water of the sap to boil off we had some Blue cheese and comb honey on crackers.

At first to me that sounds like a weird combination but after trying it, it is great!!
