Thread: 5600 miles

Yes 03 anniversary edition, well I have had these wheels before and never had too much issue with them, I would say yes they catch more turbulence than spokes, but the engine and person sitting on the bike are bigger wind stops than the wheels. I haven't made up my mind if I,m keeping these wheels or not. This s one f my grails n bikes, always wanted the 100th anniversary model in the gun metal blue. They didn't make as many of them as the black and silver editions. Plus now that I've done some engine upgrades it runs so nice!

This does rank as one of my longer trips just not the longest, I hope to do all 50 states some day in a years time, might aKeep about 4 months with all the people I'd like to meet on the way. Anyway, I will say this I,m getting older cause after getting back, I thought maybe the next time up that way I,ll take the Trike, more room for gear not to mention a little easier on the butt. Tc

Looks like you had one heck of a nice ride!

Wish I was still up to it, but I sold my last 2 wheeler some 10+ years ago, and I don't think my carcass could do it anymore. Last long ride I did, we pulled into a motel around 11.00pm, and we fortunately got something to eat before the kitchen closed (sausage and biscuits actually) and then we hit the sack. I was fuming in the morning as I looked at the odometer and realized I'd missed a 1k mile ride by 68 miles....... crap!

The body may give out, but as long as I have my memories... or at least the "Rolling Pin Dept." to remind me of those feats... I'll have something to talk about!

Yea you just missed a good Saddle Sore award if you keep your records!, in my time I have done 11 Iron Butt rides, 8 Saddle Sores, 3 Butt Burners, 4 total were actually done on a hard tail. Those days are over, I try not to do more than 500 - 600 if the weather is right. As for ever giving it up, can't do it, I've been straddled over a highway bike since 1972 and with the Harley Trike sitting in the garage I can ride till they bury me. My truck gets so lonely in the mild weather. Tc

The trip of a lifetime in every respect. I've always been honored to be a part of this group. Thanks for sharing. I think most all of us would give the shirt off our back for a fellow SRPer. Congrats on the trip!

Just an update to this story, my trip reached the halfway point when I got to Walla Walla Wa, at Roy's house(cudarunner) from there me and him seen some sites, went to Glen's, and then I went home, but Roy continued on to a friend in south California, stayed there helping him with his new house, then as of yesterday he hit the road again.

He is making a couple stops in Arizona to some members and then heading to Boise Id. to meet up with more family. Guys he just got this bike a little while back, first big assed Harley and he takes it on a major trip that I,m guessing is going to be 4-5 thousand miles when complete starting when we left 3 or so weeks ago, Roy is a true rider, great guy and I am blessed he's my friend, so now I think we need to get a rider nickname for him so he can be a true 100% two wheeled maniac! Way to go Roy and be safe the rest of the trip.

I may have to get him interests in club riding. Tc
