Way back in about '72 I bought a Two Door '56 Chevy sedan with a 327 that had the 202 heads, the off road Z28 cam, Headman Headers, a Rev Pol distributor, a Tarantula Intake a Holley Double Pumper carb etc and Damn was it Fun! I'm still kicking myself in the Arse for selling it!
Later on I stumbled upon a really neat publication called Auto Restorer. It was a Black and White magazine that wasn't full of Advertisements from Holley, Hooker etc. Most of the articles were written by guys in the trade that they were writing about. Such as one time there was a guy who was an automotive electrical expert and he showed how to disassemble a relay from something like a '29 Cord and then properly rebuild it. Another time an automotive air conditioning expert showed how to rebuild that system.
They had articles about guys who had restored not only cars but military vehicles, motorcycles, electric cars on and on.
When the divorce came around money was more than tight but as things have been getting much better I plan on re-subscribing. I contacted who I thought was the right web sight and they reassured me that indeed they were still around but that color had been added.
Off I go to subscribe.
