    Default High end watches

OK so this is a different type of question. I was wondering for all of you that do wear these high end watches has there ever been an issue with getting unwanted attention from wearing them. I am in the market for one but I'm not super sure that this would be a good idea. Im still trying to find some answers on this. thanks all for your information.

For the most part most people do not even notice my Rolex submariner. Once in a great while I will have somebody ask me about it that is about it.

Most don't give a hoot about the watch you wear with two exceptions. If you wear some gaudy piece with gem stones or way out design and the other exception is Rolex. Everyone knows Rolex and people will stare and it will be a theft magnet depending on where you go.

Depends where you go as in some places they will kill you for your cheap runners.

This is my two sense. If you are going somewhere that is not a great neighborhood then don't were your nice watch. I personally would not go some were questionable in the first place. I were my Rolex all the time and have never had a problem. But I do not flaunt it at all.

I'll tell you this. I've been collecting watches for 30 years and most watch brands including names like Patek which are far better watches than Rolex are unknown by the general public. Everyone knows Rolex though and someone out for no good is attracted to that name.

I've heard of stories where someone takes a watch off someone looks at it and throws it on the ground thinking it's junk when it's a 30 grand watch but they'll kill you for the Rolex.

Just keep in mind there are many many outfits out there making watches the equal of Rolex or better at cheaper prices. The main reason to buy a Rolex is if you are considering selling in a few years you will lose little or nothing or make money on it depending on how long you have it and the model. In general with watches you lose big time when you sell.

Of course the main reason to buy any watch is because when you put it on it "speaks to you". That's the bottom line.

yes it really depends on where you hang out that will up the odds, but you have your wallet on you so its as likely to be the target anyway. I go down to Beale street all the time with friends on bike night, but then again a bunch of heavily armed bikers might be a deterrent Tc

It is just a watch. Rolex is a nice timepiece and many identify it with "expensive". There are definitely watches on both sides of Rolex. As with anything, you have to use your best judgment. i have several nice watches, which I stopped wearing ever since the iphone became part of my everyday items. I always know what time it is from the clock on the phone. That said, I never worried about wearing a watch anywhere. I really wasn't going places where my safety was of concern ever. I lived in NOLA for a period and never modified what I was wearing based upon where I was going.

Summary, if you like it, buy it and wear it when/where you like!

The type of people that know what a nice watch brand is other than Rolex are generally not the type of people that are going to rob you.
But since you're asking about a Rolex... use the judgement same as you would a car. If you have a high end car, its likely you also own a "daily driver". If you're going to an area that you are at all concerned about the safety of yourself or your car, you know which one to take...
