I have done some SCCA racing and have owned a few very fast street cars. Fastest road circuit racing speed in my vintage BMW race car is maybe 130mph on the straights. The fastest car I have ever owned is my current street/track Porsche Turbo. Built on a 1977 shell for light weight and rebodied as a 1997 factory turbo racer. 700 horsepower and the car weighs 2200lbs. It will do over 200mph but I havent been to any big enough tracks yet - 180mph so far.

HOLY MOLY CT, that Turbo is amazing looking!
I used to race F2 motorcycles. '87 and '88 TZ250's, and a '89 Factory Aprilia 250. Fastest I went one one was approx. 150mph down the straight at Willow Springs (picture of me, from pretty far away, in turn 4 at Willow on my '87. I've got to scan in all my race pictures some day).
The fastest I've driven in a car was just recently in my friend's modded '07 BMW M5; 170mph on California I5.

Thanks Bpave. The car is street registered but I dont even try to open it up on public roads. Too many cops where I live and the car doesnt blend in very well lol...These days if they catch you going over 100mph they impound your car!!! I certainly dont need that

Damn, what kind of downward pressure do you get with that wing? It ain't the prettiest (the wing, the car is beautiful), but I bet it keeps that rear end planted like a tree!

The wing is a carbon fiber autoclave factory Evo item and makes significant downforce over 100mph. Dont know exactly how much, but I can say that we had to reinforce the wing attachment points to handle it. I would say several hundred pounds of downforce because it really keeps the car glued down on fast sweepers.

Thanked: 0205mph on a Busa we had impounded (for F&E
)
one of the perks of working on a small force
that was 02, it was pretty new
course now it seems silly because a get off would have cheated the wife out of my retirement with like 4 months left to go
but isn't that what this thread was about?

Oh man, I totally forgot about my Busa ride this year. Crazy fast bikes. The one I rode was setup for drag racing (extended swing-arm, NOS, etc). I only did about 120mph on a side road (residential area, and I had a beer in me), but it's how fast it got there that's mind numbing.
Nice work Spartacus.

Jeeze, 205 on anything is crazy!
Have you guys seen bike prices these days? I've been looking around for a good older bike to nab and be a city rider, but with these prices, there's no way! I've been seeing 79-85's going for over 2.5k everywhere. I'm not talking about nice ones either- these are dime a dozen, there's one in every other garage bikes. I blame OPEC

I did some racing in my old mini, it was a 110bhp 1992 Mini Cooper, tore off the injection, got it bored to 1400cc and slaped double webers on it

Thanked: 17
A couple of years ago I wacked 145 mph in a 1973 Maserati Bora with my insurance agent as a passenger!
Not long after that I topped 150 driving solo
