I rallied the staff together at work today and went out to the local Mexican joint to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I discovered that one of our new managers is a cigar smoker so he brought along a few Mexican cigars. His description of the smoke involved phrases like ‘thy have some bite’ and ‘it gets you in the back of the throat’, so I knew I was in for something.
A couple of beers and some Patron tequila later, we lit up a couple of these little rockets. My god, to say it was spicy would be an understatement. It was like smoking a black pepper laced jalapeño, zing!! It will take a couple of days for that one to ware off, I think I will pass on the next one.

Did a breakfast for all the employees in the facility today. Cooked 20 pounds of my homemade sourdough pancakes, omelets, 20 dozen eggs, bacon, etc… Long and grueling morning but everyone enjoyed it. So after it was all finished and I cleaned up everything, I went outside and enjoyed a CAO L’Anniversaire Maduro Toro. Everyone that came outside commented about how good it smelled. I really like these. I need find a good priced vender and get a box.

I had an interesting smoke this evening. I avoid flavored smokes like the plague, but this one is different. Drew Estate Java Toro, the Java had me. It is not sticky, gooey, sick sweet, or smell like dirty socks, it was darn good. A subtle coffee flavor with a bit of sweetness and plenty of bold tobacco and a nice aroma. More of a desert cigar. I actually enjoyed it, a dark maduro wrapper and Nicaraguan filler but with a rich flavor. Reminds me of a good smoke with a good cup of coffee, I smoked it down to a nub. I might get a few more.

Ordered "The Natural" pizza from Pizza Hut and a 2 liter Dr Pepper. Friends, I'm here to tell you that is the best pizza that Pizza Hut ever cranked out. Finished it off with a Corojo Cubano from Thompsons. A cheap cigar that is rich in flavor and aroma.

Just finished some bbq ribs. They were the first cook for the Big Green Egg and I went the full "low and slow" process. Start to finish took about 5 hours and it was absolutely worth the time spent.
