You fill in a probationary membership form too.
They will tell "the plod" you have been to the range, who will react if necassary.
Normal pistols are banned for target shooting in the UK. The government allows them when there is an international competition on. Double standards as standard we are run by w4nk3rs !!
The ways you can shoot pistols in the UK are three-fold
1 the pistol must be over 24 inches in length. This is achieved either by a barrel of silly length or a permanent thick wire wrist brace from the bottom of the grip
2 lodge your pistol at a historic pistol range. your gun must be an historicaly important unaltered piece. There are only about half a dozen historic ranges in the whole country.
3 Ignore the law, go down your local pub, find the local villian, pay him a very reasonable amount of money and purchase a well made Eastern European semi-auto pistol, buy a Lee press and make you own homeloads.
Hope to God you don't get caught with it as our 1984 esque dictatorship government will lock you up till your hair goes grey if they catch you with it.
    Wow, that's utterly ridiculous.

Les Baers are custom made, tighter and like so, more accurrate and very reliable.. They're a joy to shoot.

The trigger is tight but easy pull. All around a pleasure and a blast to shot highly recommended. Bill lent me his Python so we will see how the old compares to the new. Python already wins in the looks department

I'm a great fan of both the Colts and the Smiths, and then there are the workhorse Rugers. I know of one Security Six that was owned by a family that did commercial reloading for various police departments back in the days when the police agencies could use reloads and not be concerned about violating the pistol manufacturers worried warranties. This pistol was used to shoot off any questionable .38s and .357s that didn't pass any of the tests before packaging. It went to the range with a bucket of rounds so the brass could be reclaimed. Last I heard it had digested better than half a million rounds and the lock up was still snug.

Can not speak to reliability yet but it you have not shot a big SW you must. I would almost guarantee when you do you will own one. They are that much fun and that accurate

    Wink Desert Eagle

That would be my choice. Stop with the "pop" guns and get you a weapon.
