Thanked: 488Thanks! We were issued Glocks as well and my feelings were the same as yours. I got used to them but as soon as I retired and moved to another state and a small department I was able to carry my 1911. I was in heaven then because I had the stopping power I wanted as well as the handling I had become so accustomed to. I carried the Glock only on duty by the way--off duty was the 1911.

Very nice gun! I was checking out the new Springfield guns a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful guns, I prefer their weight and feel compared to Glocks of similar caliber.

Thanked: 488Thanks Serg! I like the heft of the 1911 also. I know a lot of folks would prefer something lighter but over the years I've become so accustomed to carrying a 1911, even full size, it doesn't bother me a bit to carry one all day. The right holster makes a big difference.

sadly I let my permit lapse, but I had my Sig 220 on it (when I still had the sig) as well as my p232 and my 38special. I love the 1911's, and they sure do dress up nice. But sigs sure do shoot fantastic out of the box. pricey, but great guns.

Thanked: 488Red,
I really like Sigs myself and the P220 is a fine one. I got one of the German surplus P6's and it is real shooter and i've never had a failure of any kind with it. I carried it a lot last summer because of the size. I also loaded it with CorBon DPX 9mm which is one wicked round. I don't ever get into the 9mm vs 45 debate because the key is shot placement not caliber.

Thanked: 488Springfield is gone but a good reason!!!
You guys won't believe this but I have a friend who has been looking for this very gun for years. He emailed and we struck a deal. I'm getting a Kimber custom shop Raptor on a straight across trade for the Springfield. Now I just have to wait a few days for the Raptor to get here:-) The Raptors run new about $1250 and this one is new!!!!!
I'll send pics when it gets here. Stock pic--------
Different view but mine is all blue with fixed sights------Last edited by Gunner777; 02-27-2009 at 08:15 PM.

Heres Mine, I got lucky and got #10 of 500, This one has the same internals as the series 70's Colts and is by far one of my favorite Kimbers I own.
