Default A new Springfield Armory 1911

    1993 Springfield Armory Compact 1911

I ran across this one the other day. They were only made a very few years in the early 90's. It has a Commander slide and an Officers model frame. This setup makes a great carry pistol. Since we have new mags these days it still holds 8 rounds with one up the pipe. With the short frame it really carries well since the grip doesn't stick out as much as a full size frame. I don't understand why they only made them about three years. This is the first one I've seen in many years.
I added some thin McCormick grips and changed the trigger to a longer one. It also came with a set of Trijicon night sights a real plus!
This is a ten yard target. I tossed one but the rest of the mag went into one hole.

Hope you enjoy the pics. I did a full review on my blog at Gunner’s Journal

My favorite weapon and that is a beauty. Check out the M1911 commemorative knife I found. You may want one of these too: http://straightrazorpalace.com/what-...ollection.html

That is a beauty. I used to love 1911s until I was introduced to the Glock 23. It is ugly as sin dipped in misery but I love the way they shoot and I don't care if it gets skinned up so I treat it like a tool. With a gun like yours I would handle it like a fine pocket watch and actually have to clean it every time I shot it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I had a Glock 23 but I kept leaving it at home:-) It was very easy to carry weight wise. I just love the lines and classic style and handling of the 1911 so much and I've carried one since 1975. It's to late to change now--LOL! Seriously though I enjoy a lot of different handguns but the 1911 is the one I go to every day. Heck I always clean all my guns every time I shoot them anyway. I'm probably the only guy I know who actually enjoys cleaning guns--LOL!
Darnit now I have a knife I need uh want to buy:-)
Also I carried a stainless 1911 on duty for years and the bad guys were scared to death of those things. I even had more than one ask if that was a 45!
