I am not an idiot and I did read what you wrote but have you held the Glock 21 SF its a thinner 45 with the same capacity, I LOVE that gun. My only .45 is a HK USP tactical. I had a AAC Evolution silencer for it but sold it since I'm joining the service and don't wish to have the armorers fondle it. The XDM is good but, when I was employed at Impact Guns in Salt Lake City I had customers who would complain that it was finicky with hollow points. I was unable to duplicate these complaints on the range but heard them from many customers.
P.S. Just buy a 10mm!

great replies....before I got my Para .45 as my primary CC weapon, I considered one of the smaller Taurus PT22 .22 semi-autos....not only did they get good reviews and were very cheap but they came in so many exotic finishes and grip materials that you could really have fun and customize your pistol....I checked out the PT45 Millenium and it looked like a good value, but just seemed a little toyish and not put together as well as the XD's or sig's or other comparable polymer pistols.
Just checked out the Taurus 1911....wow! She's a looker! Wish that was on the market when I was looking at 1911's....unfortunately it's a little larger than I prefer for CC, but it's probably a great shooter!
To jbbushman....I'll check out the 21 SF (small frame?) if I get a chance, but my problem with Glocks is the very steep angle on the grip/magazine well and the boxy, square feel to the grips. My Para feels like it was molded to fit my hand, which is the case with most double-stack pistols I've handled, especially 1911's with rubber grips. HK's and XD's are also very comfortable for me........
Anyway.....I'll be praying for an XDM45 COMPACT to be released soon!!! Hopefully they don't pull any of that GAP crap they did w/ they first round of XD45's!

I can't comment on the XDs. The only polymer weapon I have is a px4 storm 40 cal. Some problems with the feed at first, but a little filing took care of that. All steel upper works good.
It has been a while since I looked at anything by taurus, but I thought that I had heard from somewhere that when they started up, they bought up smith and wessons old tools and were making handguns with them. I don't know if that is accurate or if they have retooled since then. Does taurus make polymer frames?

I dunno about buying S&W stuff, but Taurus was kind of an "off" brand when they started up....but they succeeded as an "off" brand and have grown in size and quality over the years.
Their PT45 Millenium is polymer framed. If memory serves, with the first version of the gun, they had some problems with frames cracking, especially with hi-power/+p ammo, so they released a second version that fixed a lot of bugs. They get good reviews and seem like a great bang for the buck....but if you hold a PT45 in one hand and an HK or XD in the other, you'll see what I mean about the toyish/airsofty-kinda vibe with the PT

Thanked: 522Semi Autos
I can tell you guys that a nice shooter is my obsolete Colt Stainless Steel Officer's 45 ACP. That's a nice gun and I added Checkered CocoBolo grips. But my nicest shooter is the Browning Hi Power 9mm. Incredibly smooth action. It's about twenty five years old and the perfect semi.

When I was about 12 years old, I remember my pops got a Colt SS Officer's .45 ....I remember thinking it was WAY heavier (and cooler) than the little .22 revolver I was used to shooting. Heh, I've always liked that gun...wish he still had it....anyway, the Browning Hi Power is a classic! Great choices on both counts!
