My new kitten
Well, technically he's the wife's cat, but he likes me more He's about 12-13 weeks old, and one of the most cantankerous animals I've ever met.
As much of a mess as he can be, I like this cat more and more daily. He was relatively calm when we gave him his first bath- no one got bit or scratched! Today, however, I think he proved just how good of a little guy he is.
Yesterday he started showing signs of a possible eye infection, and today I was sure. Like any country boy, I went to get some terramycin ointment for it. For those of you unfamiliar with terramycin, it's an ointment that you have to put on and around the eyeball. Most cats you'd have to wrap in a towel and wrestle to put this stuff in their eye(s). I sat him down, held is head so he couldn't wiggle, and applied the ointment. The only thing he did was to try to keep his eyes closed.
After I was done (when a cat would normally bolt), he sat in my lap and I pet him for a few minutes. Here's a picture I snapped a few days ago...it's not the greatest, but he won't pose for anything!

If he will sit through that, hes got to be good natured and worth keeping around.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 402How lovely!
My little Siamese is also such a patient one.
Couldn't live without her and also like her better each day.
Whats his name? Why did you bathe him?

His name is Tiberius- both after the Emperor and James T. Kirk
He got a bath because he, to my knowledge, hasn't had one since birth.

Wow, my cats would have removed fingers if I did that. Heck, I gave up on bathing them entirely and just shave them in the summer instead.
Not with a razor though, just in case you were wondering. They won't hold still long enough.

Thanked: 402LOL but cats do neither shave nor bathe!
Usually you can do this to them only once.
Next time they will remember what a terrible hard piece of work it was
to get all this fur back in the row and won't allow it anymore.
Is Tiberius (how nice!) your first cat?

He's the first we've had together, but we've both had cats before. It's the only way I'd be comfortable giving him meds like this.
I'm hoping he stays like this. They need baths, but I don't want to risk my life doing it

He looks like a cool cat. Tiberius is a good name but had it been me I would have named him Cantankerous. I named mine Rambunctious 'cause he is. Here is a thread worth a bump for us cat lovers.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Wow.
I vacuum my cat and she hates it. you should give it try.
My cat has no claws and is fat with short legs though. Her self respect has probably gone down enough to where she fears letting someone try and make her look respectable in fear of failing expectations.
That or she's a cat and has no rational thought for anything.
