WOW! those are great pieces. I'm more of a blade person myself. I've lost count at this point how many I have. I've fired some shotguns and rifles at a range and loved it. I'd love to own some, but being in NYC, it's virtually impossible, and rightfully so.
I'm curious how you guys got some of the more, lets say exotic pieces like the AK and the Thompson

I just recently picked up a Thompson Center Encore in .50 cal muzzleloader. I'm looking to get a 12 gauge barrel for turkey season as well.

Thanked: 0My favorite gun, that i've still yet to find a legitimate one(or decent remake for that matter, is a Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 with 3.5x PU scope. Yes, it's the gun made famous in the movie enemy at the gates by the real sniper, Vasily Zaytsev. I absolutely love the gun!
Here's a link to the gun: File:Zajcev rifle.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thanked: 363Cool pics, but out of those of you who own guns, how many really hunt, I know hand guns arent meant for hunting, for protection. but who's a hunter?
I want to get a place small cabin type out west for hunting, and hiking, survivalism type stuff, I don't own any guns, but looking for an all around good rifle that can handle most game ( sans bears) Maybe a suggestion or two.
My brother and I are spliting the cost so it won't cost me too much coin for the cabin, but I don't want to waste my time buying a useless rifle.
Cheers

I hunt quite a bit ... A nice entry level rifle is the Stevens bolt action made by Savage.
It's a very accurate rifle (sub MOA). The price of the rifle puts it as one of the best deal on the streets. I think this rifle is offered by the manufacturer with a scope already mounted.

The caliber really depends on the game. The 270 Win kicks some all around butt, but some may find it to be too light duty for some larger game. The 7mm mag is always a good choice as well for most North American game.
Long range shooting can be a 'blast'.

Thanked: 7I have always been a huge fan of Glock, and recommend them when ever I get the chance. We got around 20 new fourth generation Glock 17s. I have to say, I really don't like the new recoil springs. They are more like the larger caliber guides, where a smaller spring rides in the larger spring. The problem is that the back side has a huge metal ring. It barely fits in the gun.
My problem is that I'm trying to teach 20 or so people how to break down and clean their guns. I have never had people have problems with re-assemble with Glocks before. At least 1/3 of the people could not get their guns back together. The guide was catching, and jamming if it wasn't on the lowest notch, and perfectly centered. I couldn't even get two of them back together. Eventually, I tried the two problem slides on different guns, and was able to get them on. That seemed strange too.
The springs are so stiff that any kind of weakness in the wrist was a guaranteed jam. Hopefully the springs will soften up a little with some use. So far, I am not impressed with the 4th gen Glocks. I'll see how things go after a few weeks. Hopefully my opinion will change.

Thanked: 7I was actually looking around for reviews, and possible solutions to my problems, and didn't see anything. I guess the new Glocks must be pretty new. I did read quite a few new features that I'm not seeing on the actual guns.
One feature some people are talking about is some sort of external declocker, so you don't have to pull the trigger for dis-assembly. There isn't one on our guns.
Ambidextrous slide release, again, none on ours.
I was excited about the interchangeable back straps, but thats another feature not on these guns.
Some people say the magazine release is reversible. The magazines do have cut outs on both sides. I'm not sure if ours are reversible or not. I'll have to take a closer look, and see if we can reverse them. It sure would be nice for some of our left hand shooters.
The new texture is nice. The grip is covered in small, raised, sharp, square bumps.
Some of the features might be available if you ordered them, but I'm just telling you what I'm seeing on the guns that are actually in my hand.

I have these:
SW Mod 19 .357 blue steel was used by a patrol officer for 10 years.
SW Mod 60 Chief .38 cal stainless was used by the same officer off duty gun
SW 645 .45 cal semi-auto was used by a SWAT officer as a side arm.
Glock 32 .357 Cal was carried by a detective.<----shoots nicely.
I like them but don't use them very often. I guess about twice a year.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
