Hip Flasks
I've got a 8 oz. hip flask I take fishing with me.I normally put Dark Aged Rum in mine. I think I might be getting a 2.5 oz. soon for shorter trips.
Anyone else out there carry one?
Any certain occasion you find yourself carrying it?
What's your liquor of choice?

I had a plastic one that looked like a cell phone. It was the worst fake cell phone you ever saw but I used it because it wasn't metal. Nice for getting on and off cruise ship or in and out of airports without setting off metal detectors.
I prefer the standard hip flask otherwise, you know for stuff like a round of golf.
**Edit**
Liqueur of choice is Vodka, it just goes in everything well.Last edited by TheBaron; 12-05-2009 at 09:32 AM.

Thanked: 137I have two flasks. Being in a pipe band, they often make it into my sporran for consumption during massed bands at competitions, or for keeping warm at dawn parade on ANZAC Day (NZ and Aussie celebration of our armies history, especially the attack on Gallipoli in WWI). I also occasionally take them with me when I go into town or to a ball. My liquor of choice is vodka if going to a ball or town, but for the pipe band events I usually put whisky into them (Irish for preference, or a nice Highland single malt).

I have a stanley that I use for utility such as hunting, fishing, camping ect. It is a little bulky for pocket carry in the warmer months. I carry a shinny Stainless with a Wild Turkey etch that came from the gift shop at the distillery when I want a thinner flask.
The content is usualy a Kentucky Bourbon.
I have attached a pic of the stanley.

1 oz is suppose to be equal to 1 standard shot. Sometimes I just don't need to lug around 8 oz. There have been times when I would have liked to pack a flask but 8 oz. was just more than I was willing to tap my hidden Rum Reserve for some short random outing.
My sister wanted me to go with her to some asinine poker "party" her ex-husband was throwing. I was told to be civil even if I (we) don't like him so I figured not sharing 8 oz. would have been a little too much of an insult.
All kidding aside it would just be a little more handy. No one in my family can really stand up to the rums I drink without heavily mixing it with something else.I don't mix rum. 2.5 oz.( or 2 and a half shots) is plenty for just me to get a little comfy.

This may be due to the fact that tonic drinks should only have enough tonic to take the edge of the alcohol. Originally tonic was used to curb malaria and the alcohol was added to make the tonic palatable.
I happen to be a vodka tonic fan myself, in order to add any less tonic to my drinks I'd have to pass the bottle of tonic over my glass instead of pouring it.
In case you were wondering, no I am not an alcoholic. Alcoholics drink alone, I let the dog watch me drink.

for a few years a buddy and me had a sorta tradition that when ever one of us went somewhere and came back we get the other a flask, and it is a normal christmas or birthday present for eachother. so i have a few, some just very plain and others look quite expensive with engravings and stuff on them. preferably filled with whiskey (tullamore dew, jameson or michael collins), if not whiskey then rum
