I too only resort to gin when the weather's too warm for Black Label. (Though this year I've been on a 'rita kick.)
Plymouth gimlets or with tonic are my go to drinks. If you didn't know - Plymouth was the original gin used in a martini. Fun little fact.
Gin is definitely a love it or hate it drink. And I've tried a bunch of gins that are pretty awful. I'll drink Beefeater and Bulldog, but some of the others are way too "Juniper-y" for me. Or whatever other herbs they tossed into the mix.
Sometimes it's just easier to ask for a Bud...

Bombay sapphire!
Two fingers worth in the bottom of a pint glass, chuck in a handful of ice, a couple of bits of lime and fill the rest up with tonic water.
Then sit in the sun and enjoy!

Thanked: 234Love the stuff. I drink it in a rotation with scotch. I don't actually have any in at the moment, and I keep meaning to get some! I haven't tried many of the more expensive ones, I have found one that is cheap and mixes well and I've stuck with it.
Beefeater, plymouth, bombay saphire and gordons are a couple of the more well known brands I've tried.

Thanked: 2French 75:
1 oz Gin
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
1 tsp sugar
mix in a shaker of ice, pour into glass, top-off with champagne, garnish with cherry.
Heard this on the radio and gave it a try. I'm not real big on bubbly, but this is pretty good. I often skip the lemon juice and sugar, and just use some grenadine.

Thanked: 0Converted for a change of pace.
I used to be a Bombay Sapphire man. I loved the peppery edge it gives to a martini. Lately, however, I've been using Aviation (small distillery out of Portland, Oregon). Its a clean but truly unique gin that has captured my attention. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for something new.

I've heard about Bols but haven't yet had the fortune to find in an ABC store (in Virginia beer and wine and sold in grocery stores, mini-marts, etc. but hard liquor has to be bought from an Alcoholic Beverage Control store). Am going to have to look into ordering some online...

Thanked: 10Favorite Hendricks recipe
Here is a good one that was given to me lately.
Take a good slice of cucumber and muddle it in the bottom of a shaker with a couple of dashes of Tabasco sauce.
Add 1/2 oz. lemon juice
1 oz. St Germain
1 1/2 of Hendricks gin
It needs to be Hendricks because of the cucumber and rose flavors in the Hendricks
Shake and pour over ice.
It's called a hot Charlotte
