Veggie kebabs on a BBQ: onion, mushrooms, courgette (OK, OK, zuchini or whatever you guys call it), peppers. Just chop them into big chunks, stick 'em on a skewer, brush with olive oil, season, and whack 'em on the barbie.

And barbecued corn on the cob. Man, I love how it caramelises.

But of course, IMO, good though the above is, it really ought to be accompanied by some meat.

Brocolli, asparagus, peas, mange tout beans, avocado, mushrooms, radishes and red onion. Man, do I like red onion! You cant beat that in a sandwich with ham, cheese and lettuce, a bit of mayo and some black pepper on thick brown bread. Yum!

I live half a block from the farmers market thats here twice a week I just walk down the lane and get what ever looks really good, not paying alot of attention to what it is As long as it smells great and it grown local I'll find something to do with it

That being said... I don't like vegies by themselves much... it's hard enough to remember to eat them as is...

Thanks for reminding me about farmers markets.. there is one tomorrow near me and I may have to see what they have currently. Last one I went to was very sparse but it was also the first one of the season.

The king of vegetables has to be the humble potato. Most vegetables can be cooked in three or four different ways, but the huble potato has an almost unlimited number of uses. Fried, boiled, baked, mashed, gnocchi, roasted, how ever you like them.

Lots of asparagus lovers here see. I live a few miles from the Vale of Evesham which is famous for its asparagus, known locally as sparrow grass!

It's reckoned to be the best in the world. The local large Tesco supermarket in Evesham was in a bit of a pickle the other day when it was discovered that all their asparagus was flown in from Peru, rather than about a mile away from the local asparagus growers!

As for my favourites, it would have to be the runner beans. You can't beat the humble spud either with a plate of chips!

Broccoli is my all time favourite.

For cooking? The lowly onion. The onion can be sweet, the onion can be savory, it can be whatever you want. Fantastic for cooking, the onion is.
