    2) I've seen people say that I want the carbon coating on the inside of the bowl to be about the thickness of a nickle... it's a brand new pipe, so I'm sure I'm not there yet, but how will I know how think it is... will I see the thickness on the upper edge of the bowl??
I apologize in advance for improper terminology...

1.) It's the tenon that that fit's into the shank of the pipe and making the noise... A little "spirits" (your choice) and a "Q -tip" might remedy the issue... Whatever you do, don't get the "spirits" on the bowl, it will strip the was finish...

One other rule, don't take a warm or hot pipe apart, you can break the tenon...

The click is no big deal, it just means that the two fit together nice and tight...

After you clean it, maybe rub some Bee's Wax on the tenon, it may help with a smoother turn...

2.) Yes a cake build up in the bowl is good... Helps protect the inside of the bowl from the ember(s)... In my experience, a thick cake takes quite a bit of time to build, unless you are smoking something like "Fiver Brothers"...

    Five Brothers:

Old fashioned, real honest tobacco flavor with a kick, these phrases describe Five Brothers to a T. This is straightforward dark Burley, cut in a fine ribbon that's almost a shag. Although a lot of people smoke this on its own, it also makes a nice addition to milder tobaccos to give them more body.

    Default COB Snob...

Somewhere is these 1000+ pages, I think that I have mentioned that I am a COB Snob, only meaning that a Corn Cob is my favorite pipe to smoke...

There is nothing to think about and I just stuff, light and smoke...

There are some in this world that believe there is a right and wrong way to smoke a pipe, I am NOT one of them... What works for one person, may not work for another...

Please don't take me wrong, there is pipe etiquette as with cigar smoking, SR Shavings and other finer things in life...

But as you can read in my signature line... " "

All I will tell a person is... Enjoy what you do...

Don't wanna see any pics of wee ghosties now. I don't think anything bad really happened at the "Stanley" ......I could be wrong though. Like I said, just stay away from the hedge rows and all should go well.

    + 1

I couldn't recomend a cob higher. I own almost a dozen pipes total and I reach for one of the cobs more often then not.

As for the tight stem I suggest taking a pencil and rubbing it on the tenon. The graphite will act as a lubricant without stripping finish or affecting the smoke.

Lol they actually put us up on the 4th floor. Guess that's the really haunted spot. But no ghosts for me yet... But when the ghost tour stops at my room I like flinging open the door and making everyone jump [emoji1]

Holy cow. No pic now as i'm at work for the next few weeks but i just became a grandfather last night.
A little baby boy was born to my daughter and son-in-law at 03.19 am last night. I hope the kid may have the change to grow and live in a better and safer world than my generation has done this far.
