So how was your first cob experience?

Not to shabby! She delivered a nice cool smoke, until the bottom 1/3rd. Then it was a little harsh, but it is a new pipe. I find all new pipes smoke that way until carbon is formed, and dread breaking in new briar. I'm sure she'll settle down after she's broken in a bit. I let she rest yesterday and today. She's back in the rotation tomorrow! Again THANK YOU very much, very kind of you!
Well my Freehand showed up today... What a pleasure...
It's a handful, but not quite full-size length wise, but not quite a Nose Warmer...
Everything seems to be drilled straight...
The bowl coating seems different... I almost wonder is they coated it with a "tobacco" based substance... The bowl also isn't smooth, which should help build a cake...
Please let me know how she smokes. I've been eyeballing those pipes, they look real nice for the $$. I noticed the use a 6mm filter. Can u smoke it w/out the filter? My only experience w/filters are the balsa ones used in my Sav's. I quickly tossed them, and smoke the pipes w/out. They tend not to dry out, even w/a weeks rest and make the pipe sour fast.
Tonights enjoyment is tasting mighty fine, Nosewarmer! ThanksAttachment 186522 again!
Dang! Once again I posted the wrong pic. I can't seen to delete the bottom one. Oh well.
You can smoke it with a filter, it's drilled to take one, however it does not come with any...
My experience with any filter is... Toss it after a bowl...
I'll smoke some cobs with filters, depending on the blend... Captain Black being one of them...
I do have a few Balsa filters from my old Savinelli, I might use them with this new pipe... MIGHT...
What a week! Called in dead this morning so I started the day with a leisurely breakfast, a good pipe and a cup of coffee. The pipe in question is a Kaywoodie 7723C (pre-1936) loaded with C&D Old Joe Krantz
