Have a nice Wednesday!
Tomi,
enjoy your vacation.
Gentleman,
we are still awaiting the 2K-post in this thread.
What do you think about a themed POTD around post# 2000?
Which theme should we use?
Today I drove to my tobacco-dealer and bought some nice tobaccos.
And I asked her about some cigar-boxes for my razors.
One of this boxes is ready now.

Thomas,
Congrats for an excellent choice: Chocolate Flake. Navy Flake is decent tobacco too. It is Va/Latakia blend, flavored with rum, but flavoring is very mild. Just like with all SG's i've tried. More real thing and less candy.
Please let us know how did you like CF after you've tried.
Now you have real nice cigarette box there. You have to make some kind of rack inside to keep the razors apart.
Yes of course. I cleaned it at first outside-removed the stickers outside (like: smoking kills and more such fu.. slogans).
Now I can put some racks into the box.
The Navy-Flake I tried already...very good stuff.
And I think also the Chocolade is very good.
These are nice boxes and you get it for less.
Great idea with the cigar boxes!!

i am actually jelous, i have gone to all the local tobacco shops in my area, and none of them sell anything other than the standard pipe fare here, and only one sells his own blends, i cant find SG stuff at all, even CD isnt on our shelves. oh well when the money is there i will have to just order some up.

No need to underestimate standard pipe tobaccos. I have cheap Borkum Riff, Red Amphora and Half/Half as my daily work tobaccos and they are ok smokes too. I do not know what are the standard pipe tobaccos brands/blends over there but you don't need to have any expensive stuff to enjoy a good smoke.

Last weekend I was going through some boxes of stuff and found this pre-1938 beauty. It was not unlike putting on a coat you haven't worn in some time and finding a $20 bill in the pocket. It could still use a good all over cleaning but what a wonderful smoke! French Roast Coffee on the side.
Very nice - great older Bulldog!!

Happy Friday Gentlemen! It seemed like Friday (and more importantly payday) would never get here. I've had one of those weeks where the sleeping schedule slips into an odd rut and stays that way. I've been going to bed around 8:30 PM and getting up around 2:00 AM all this week so I can't seem to distinguish the middle of the night from the beginning of my day. Anyway, here's the morning smoke to kick things off.

Very nice pipes, Buckeye. For how long does it take from you to make one pipe?
It's been very warm spring weather here. For an evening walk i took my dogs to swim on the shore that's just behind our back yard. Watched the sunset and listened to seagulls laugh. Enjoyed some Capstan Navy Cut in my Peterson army pipe.
(took the wet dogs indoors and made my wife cheer up  Sorry madam, shame on me. Now it is time for a Friday evening beer :beer1: I think i enjoy it on a backyard, with the dogs)

Very interesting, Thomas.
Do you know what is the caliber and effective shooting distance of those mortars?
in addition:
Here you get information about the fortress:
Welcome - The Fortress Königstein
@ Tomi,
I was a commander of tank units and can you tell a lot about tanks.
By my mind:
This mortar shot 25cm bullets, but effective shooting distance should be no more than 500m.
Maybe there are a lot of artillery experts here in the forum.
Visit us in Saxony and we'll look at all this beautiful things together, Tomi!
Thanks. I think we will visit in Germany next year. Would be nice to meet you and your family! I'll have to negotiate with the government (wife).
I know something about guns, tanks and AFV's as well. I served my conscript year (so long ago) at the coastal artillery. After that year i recruited and served about 10 years at Coastal Jaegers/Transport Squadron.
Here's a pic from those days:
Looks like BTR 70/ BTR 80 from Russia
In Eastern Germany SPW 60 PB and the following machines.
http://www.panzerregiment4.de/index....nik&Itemid=182
No Russian stuff. These are Finnish XA-180 amphibious and armored vehicles, nicknamed 'Pasi'.
I can't tell a lot about the tanks.
But in 1988-90 I was a commander of such BRDM.:)
In Germany it was the SPW 40 P2
often used by recon units.
