Thread: Pipe of the Day

Gentlemen, today I can claim the dubious title of posting the fugliest pipe to soil the pages of this fine thread! That said I refuse to apologise...
Like a face only a mother could love this monstrosity will serve as a reminder to make better looking pipes in future! This is my first attempt at making one. I had some well seasoned cherry and did this with a knife, a gouge, a coping and folding saw and a hand drill with various bits.
I haven't finished shaping it yet, I just wanted to make sure it smoked well as that's my priority right now. Just tried a half bowl of Dunhill Nightcap and was amazed by how well I got on with it. Next up is to refine the shape then dye it and buff it. Ugly yes, but it brought a smile to my face and a sense of achievement. Only stuck the gouge into my thumb once whilst rusticating it, that's a small victory in my mind!

It's good to know that I am blessed with some great friends and that there are some true gentlemen and great people left out in this crazy thing called life.

Thanked: 1263I've got to say this is very true...there are gentlemen on here that I have never met in person but know that if I actually did I would consider my best of friends.
And I must say that thanks to eTom I recieved today my first Ferndown pipe today. Because of seeing his beautiful Les Wood Pipes in this thread I have lusted after them for quite some time and finally found one to pull the trigger on. Enjoyed my first bowl in it tonight and will definately post pics in the future. This is a great place for us to hang out and share our interests other than shaving. Thank you friends and I wish the best for each of you.

Thanked: 203Pipe of The Party
Hi All,
had to go to a work xmas do on the weekend and wanted to travel light, so out came the old Fiesta Pocket Pipe. Stem swings around to sit easily in the pocket with a nice round contour. No uncomfortable sharp bits. When opened it balances superbly and sits in the mouth with no heaviness noticeable. She also smokes extremely comfotably and surprisingly cool for a relatively short stem. The bowl, though narrow, is quite deep and the filling of choice for the night was Erinmore.
Regards,
Adam

Thanked: 983G'day Adam I didn't know you smoked a pipe mate. She looks like she has a bit of vintage to her along with your pipe knocker. A nice set mate.

I'm back after another short hiatus because of medical reasons. Doc says it clearly isnt the pipe of cigars causing the problems and if anything they seem to help symptoms via relaxation. He also said that in general I'm a much more pleasant person when I have my pipe and coffee in the morning and told me to go home and get back to it. So with a nice cup of Cuban coffee I've got a couple of cobs full of carter hall.
