Thanked: 1160Can't keep my eyes open much longer..should be in bed NOW! But before bed just wanted to do a quick review on this Capstan blue label That a bought recently. I think I was too unfair to it. It is mild admittedly, however it is not a bad smoke and it is growing on me more. I would definitely call it an all day tobacco. It is mild enough that you don't get a bite from it and the room note is pleasant. So I would rate this one as a 9 on the 1-10 scale. No regrets on buying this. And now it is time for me to sleep like the dead....good night gentleman .

This is interesting.
The tins they sell here are still the old narrow type. Haven't bought any for at least maybe a year so i do not know how it is now. I still have 'few' tins reserved to get me through world war z.
Howevers, will probably try this new version as well. At least the old wasn't damn strong (like Irish flakes) but not too mild (McB navy flakes) either. During the centuries the manufacturer has changed for several times. At times it was produced with license in my home town too.
Here's a quote from a friend from one of the Scandinavian pipe sites. Translated by me.

Red alert! Caught my eye from Danish club magazine news that the manufacturing license of Capstan was changed from the beginning of October from ST Group to Mac Barens. I've read my pipe lores: this can not mean anything else than Capstan become radically worse, probably just shit. In addition, the change occurs exactly the same time as the tin gets wider, completely regardless of which of the two firm's tobacco in it. I suddenly want to order a hell lot more ST Group "original" Capstan. Sticks on the eye if someone mentions W. D. & H.O. Wills.
And the next panic will probably be with Petersons. Nutty Cut and Hyde Park already come in different shaped tins than other Petes and the even the wrap is made of plastic, holy shit, must be Plantan the perfumery, and now the factory has problems with delivery with other blends too. Obviously the manufacturing has outsourced and now the Teutons have it. Now get them fast and enough as there's still time. I have not enough to survive without seeing any nightmares of wide tins with sticker labels.

Thanked: 1160Oh yes...with every tin comes a scantily clad young maiden who packs your bowl and whispers sweet nothings in your ear as you light up. And if you like the maiden you already have you can keep her when buying the next tin. If not they just magically disappear and a new one pops up out of thin air. It's a really neat experience but it's only for tin buyers.....yep. Hey now !....I'm not makin this stuff up...geeze !

So true. I'm so jealous about the cigar dudes. I've heard that all Cuban cigars are wrapped against the inner legs of Cuban virgins. Damn if i could make my wife pack my pipe the same way.
usually i'm not much of a cigar dude so maybe that's why i've been storing few Cuban cigars at my so called 'humidor' (=polystyrene box). Maybe i should try some Edicion Limitadas, Rolivas Tubos or Guantanameras i've stored for years. Or just better maybe not.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'
