What with all the dry weather we have had here lately,I was getting a lot of sneezing and coughing from my allergies so, I thought I might try something a little different and a bit gentler on the throat than my usual Pilots mix which is a bit rougher.

Comoy Straight pot with MacBarens Black Ambrosia. It's an aromatic so I guess I was expecting sweet and burny. And most MacB I've had in the past is on the burny side. Not the case here at all. It's actually mild and only so lightly sweet with a balanced room note. I could smoke it all day . No burn whatsoever and so far burns very even and consistent . It's mostly Virginia's with some sweet Cavendish.

So then......branching out not so bad.

Im happy you found an Aromatic thats tasty. Many of the ones I tried dissapointed me that I even forgot they existed. I would be happy to try something that one of you guys can vouch for as "That good."

Hmmm well, I like it but that doesn't mean you will, taste is an individual thing after all. Good luck.

A Castello Old Antiquari with Bayou Morning. Have not smoked an aromatic since about 83, doubt I will ever try one again. If you enjoy it, that is all that counts, but not for me.

Y'know I will vouch for this one RF, it's mostly like smoking a mild all Virginia and well, it pretty much is so sure I would recommend it. Also the Pilots mix I like which is actually McClellends 2000 fragrant matured cake(bulk) is actually listed as an aromatic but, it doesn't smoke or really taste like one. Some aromatics are like burning candy and others just are not and some popular blends you wouldn't even know it but are actually aromatics. I know a few guys here that are aromatic fans and they are no less a pipe smoker than I. Venture out ,there are some good ones out there you just got to search them out.

My go to....... McClelland No. 2000 Fragrant Matured Cake - PipesandCigars.com

I used to smoke this one and still have a tin cellaring away currently. It'll burn ya if you puff carelessly but it's a good smoke and has a bit of Latakia for those that like it............MacBaren Plumcake - PipesandCigars.com

This also used to be a go to of mine. It's all Virginia and SpacemonkeyJon seems to be liking it too. The natural sweetness of the Virginia is the aromatic. MacBaren Virginia No.1 - PipesandCigars.com

MacB blends to me, tend to be a bit bitey but, they are not all that way I suspect given that I can handle the Black ambrosia with no tongue lash. .......

Hope this helps a bit. I happen to like Pipes and Cigars web site as they seem to have a decent system for rating tobacco's . Check'em out.Cheers !

    Not the best view gents.

A bowl of nightcap in my Dunn King with a bottle of birds and bees in my favourite bar. Been my drinking den for almost 15 years .
