i love the conversation in this thread..
and i love the turtle stew as well.. havn't had any in years..

Soup.
Snappers are astounding. You tease them with
a broom handle and when they snap you lop their head
off with an ax. A half hour later it still wants to snap...
And they get big. The last one I caught in New Jersey
was eating all the bait out of the neighbors bait pond
and may have been +40 pounds.
As kids we alway had the old guy down the road
clean them. He got a third of the meat for the
effort... Better to eat cat fish I think....

snappers
I love snappers there a really tought animal, Right now one of the guys i get my shells from has one that s shell is almost as big around as a 55 gal drum I really want that shell once its occupent is dead. That will make the best turtle shell clock yet.

i like the way you think
I like your idea but we would need a really cuped shell to do that so there is very little shapping since most shells arnt too thick but that would look awsom .
