I use old fashioned strike on the box Diamond Brand kitchen matches to light my pipes and cigars.

Thanked: 335Can't get butanes to work after a few refills. I went back to Zeepos, er, ah, Zippos. They work every time for pipes or cigars.

I've got an old Zippo circa 1986, bought for me buy my first "real" girlfriend, but I hate the taste it imparts to anything. Plus it was always a PITA; out of fluid, or over filled and giving me a chemical burn, but nothing in between. Even worse, I've found that under the right wind conditions, that freaking flame could swirl around and give one heck of a burn!
I've been thinking of taking up a pipe, but, man oh man, I gotta get me one of those "Old Boys" first. That is one gorgeous lighter.... I can't believe I'm contemplating buying a $100.00 lighter... I mean there is nothing like a $1.25 Bic for pure reliability and functionality, but style?.... that Old Boy IS style! but how the heck would I explain that one to SWMBO?

I use a strike anywhere kitchen match to light my Vulcan Hart gas stove then toast my cigars and light them.
It's a bear to carry around what with having to drag the gas line and all but a real conversation piece.
