It's a quiet night chez Cangooner as I mourn the passing of ten days off from work, and try to get my sleep patterns back to something approaching normal. There have been too many late-night sessions with great books over the last week or so, and I know getting up tomorrow will be more difficult than usual.
Ah well...
And so as the playlist rolled on past this song, I thought most of you would probably never have heard of the incredible Mr. Tielli, formerly of the late lamented Rheostatics. He has one of the most distinctive voices out there, is an absolutely incredible guitarist, and a really interesting songwriter. Not to mention possibly a little bit nuts, occasionally walking that fine line between genius and bonkers... Oh, and he's a terrific visual artist too. Interesting dude.
And for anyone curious about the Rheos this is from one of their earlier albums:
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

I can't post most of the rap etc I listen to or I'd probably have to ban myself under the obscene language rules . LOL
But I likes some Daddy Yankee. Hope there's nothing offensive here. I wouldn't know . Can't speak Boriqua.

Was browsing through NPR's 'Tiny Desk Concert' series of vids and found this. And now I'm wondering why my workplace can't get Wilco to stop in to play a few songs...

Since starting grad school in January, I've become the king of screwed up sleep patterns. A serious good night's sleep is a rare treat these days and seems to have been largely replaced by "quick combat naps" before the whole excruciating routine starts over. I'm just finishing up the last week of summer semester so I should have about half of this week and all of next week off before Fall semester starts on the 26th. I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to finishing up this degree and getting back to being a gentleman of leisure and only having one job but that's way too far in the future to worry about at the moment. Speaking of combat naps- it's about that time, right after some Haggard and Jones
