    Back in the 80s when I lived in Upstate NY, the local Cable TV company carried WQXR Radio and a few other distant FM stations via Microwave link into our cable system. Back then you could pay a whopping $5.00 extra a month for an "FM TAP" so you could get long distance perfect FM stereo to your tuner via Cable. Obviously before the internet or streaming. I listened to WQXR quite a bit. The radio station of the NY Times as they used to call it. Nice memories.

    Louis Prima was such an Italian Pop Classic singer. I prefer Lou Monty singing "Lazy Mary" to Prima's version, but the rest I have to give to Prima.

    I went VERY "Olds" school this morning with "My Merry Oldsmobile". I wanted to play music my grandfather would have shaved to. Bing sang his version in the 30s, but the original by BIlly Murray was recorded in 1909. The 1909 version would have been what my grandfather actually listened to in his 20s. His old Solingen in hand, his table mirror and basin. And the radio or the Victrola playing in the background. Different days for sure.

    Bing's version;

    Billy Murray's version;

    Here's to our grandfather's music gentlemen.

    Aloha!

    Streaming my favorite Jazz Station CJRT Toronto.
    This afternoon from 5-10 PM Eastern it's "The Big Band Jazz Show" with Glen Woodcock. This show has been running since 1976, so it's a legacy at the station.
    If you like Big Band Jazz, this show is a must listen.

    JAZZ.FM91 - Jazz and the Arts

    Later tonight, I will stream "Night Train Jazz" with Uncle Ted Grossman on WLRN Miami. This show airs from 8 PM - midgnight ever Sunday.
    Ted's specialty is 30s and 40s Jazz with a lot of rare Vinyl including Remote Jazz Big Band Broadcasts.
