Passing it forward
Before I retired I worked with a young man who was the son of guy who was in my class in High School. His name is Richard and he's a very fine young man. He was a hard worker, could follow directions, was self motivated and to the best of my knowledge never cussed me--
I'll try to condense this to as short as I can.
Richard's dad spent 20 years in the US Navy as a cook and retired. He'd married a Filipino woman and they had two children, Richard and his older sister. The father developed a brain tumor that was removed but he was totally disabled and uses a motorized wheel chair, the mother would be diagnosed with Alzheimers and would eventual lose her ability to speak English and could only speak her native language which no one else in the family could speak.
Once her condition had deteriorated to the point that she needed to be in an assisted living home it was Richard who had to handle everything. The mother eventually passed away and again it was up to Richard to make all of the arrangements.
So while only in his 30's at times he's had the weight of the world on his shoulders and has stepped up to the tasks with valor.
So what the Hell does this have to do with 'What are you listening to'?---------------Richard is a big Buddy Holly fan, in fact part of his email address includes Buddy Holly. However he only had a couple of greatest hits albums and the soundtrack from the movie The Buddy Holly Story.
An online DJ that I sponsor at Rockabilly Radio turned me onto the Complete Buddy Holly Collection which is 6 LPs and is supposed to include everything that Buddy Holly recorded including the interviews.
I went looking and found the collection for sale and some were in the US but they weren't complete with the booklet and or the quality wasn't listed as the best. However I found on in the UK that was complete and like new so I popped for it.
Once it landed I found it as described as 'Like New' the album covers showed 0% wear as did the albums.
I transferred the analog to digital and then called Richard telling him I had something for him so he came over. To say he was ecstatic would be an understatement!
Here's a pic of him with the collection as he was leaving--
So after having to read my version of War and Peace, here's some Buddy Holly---
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Great gift for a deserving young man, Roy. My Dad used to say that rock and roll died the day Buddy Holly's plane crashed, of course taking the Big Bopper and Richie Valens with him.
You always tell great stories, my friend. That seems to be a dying art that was appreciated much more in a simpler, less distracted time. There are many roads to sharp.

I believe that while rock and roll lost a great pioneer and visionary when Buddy Holly died, his legacy continues to influence artists even today.
Thank you for the compliment of my telling of stories. I was a failure in every English Class I took in High School, my spelling is improved with Spell Check and my grammar comes from my heart.
My youngest brother refers to me as 'The Family Historian' but I can only retell what I was told as a child and hope that they were true.
For instance: I was always told that my heritage was basically; English, Irish, Welsh, and Scot and two DNA test says that's true. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.
